Early Labor Signs
Many of the symptoms of pregnancy in the last part of your third trimester imitate the symptoms of labor. There are a lot of early labor signs that indicate that you are going into labor, and it is really good to know what symptoms are really early signs of labor, and which symptoms are just the side effects of pregnancy.
Knowing in advance to look out for these early labor signs will mean that you can prepare yourself better for the imminent birthing process. The early symptoms that can be read as a clear indication that your labor is about to start include:
Early Labor Sign #1: Loose Bowel Movements
One of the earliest labor signs is loose bowel movements. Even before your body begins to exhibit the early signs of labor, there are hormonal changes taking place in your body, as it prepares for birth. Loose bowel movements are a side effect of these hormonal changes, and are attributed to the drop in progesterone hormone. It is that same drop in progesterone that causes your labor contractions to start, but you are able to detect this hormonal change as an early labor sign if you suddenly begin to experience loose bowl movements.

Early Labor Sign #2: Shivering or Trembling
A second early labor sign that is also triggered by a drop in progesterone hormone is if you experience shivering or trembling without being cold, or feeling weak.
Early Labor Sign #3: Vaginal Discharge
As you begin to go into labor, your cervix begins to soften. As cervical softening occurs, you may experience some vaginal discharge which is usually white, or pink in colour.
As the cervix begins to dilate, the mucus plug (which seals the cervix throughout pregnancy) will begin to dislodge. When the mucus plug disintegrates, a bright red or brownish liquid may appear. This form of vaginal discharge is commonly termed ‘the bloody show’. It is important to note, that sometimes the bloody show can occur several days before the actual labor begins, so it can not be used in isolation as an early labor sign.
Once you begin to notice your early labor signs, you know that you are well on the way to giving birth. Next you will begin to experience signs of labor
